Radiography Program
ECC’s degree in radiography provides both classroom and clinical instruction in this fast-paced, technically demanding world. It is ideal for those who enjoy access to the latest innovations in technology. Coursework includes a solid foundation in science upon which students build their knowledge of patient care, procedures, techniques, radiation safety and safe operation and expertise with equipment. It meets the curricular requirements of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).
Graduates are eligible to take the national certifying examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and for accreditation (licensure) by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency – Division of Nuclear Safety (IEMA-DNS).
Note: Criminal background checks and drug testing are required for all health professions programs. Students demonstrating a positive background check or positive drug test will be denied admission to health professions programs. Students demonstrating a positive background check or positive drug test while enrolled in health professions programs will be dismissed from the program.

ECC's radiography program leads to an associate degree and provides accessible and relevant education in accordance with the highest professional standards. The program, in partnership with its clinical affiliates, provides the healthcare community with competent radiographers that practice compassionate and respectful care.

Admissions Procedures
The radiography program is a two-year, limited enrollment program. Admissions are limited to 20 students each year, therefore, admission is competitive. All candidates for the radiography program are evaluated using a specialized admission procedure unique to the radiography program. Students must submit admission materials and meet admission requirements before the application is considered for review. The deadline for application materials is December 31 for summer admission. Screening of complete applications takes place in late January.
All candidates must submit an official high school transcript or GED scores and official transcripts from other colleges/universities attended.

Screening Process
All candidates who submit a complete admission packet by December 31 for the radiography program are evaluated using the following criteria and are ranked by highest to lowest score. The higher the score ranking, the greater chance for admission into this program.
Screening Criteria
- PSB HOA percentiles of 25 are given a point value of 1
- PSB HOA percentiles of 99 are given a point value of 16
- ACT composite score of 21 is assigned a point value of 1
- ACT composite score of 36 is assigned a point value of 8
- 2.0 gpa in general ed. is assigned a point value of 1
- 4.0 gpa in general ed. is assigned a point value of 8

Appeals Process
Candidates denied admission may appeal using the student appeal and complaint procedure.
An individual who has been involved in a criminal proceeding or who has been charged with or convicted of a crime may file a request for pre-application review with the ARRT to obtain a ruling on the impact of the situation on their eligibility for certification and registration. A charge or conviction of, a plea of guilty to, or a plea of nolo contendere (no contest) to an offense that is classified as a misdemeanor or felony constitutes a conviction for ARRT purposes. This includes situations in which the result is deferred or withheld adjudication, or suspended or withheld sentence. Military court-martials must also be reported. This procedure may enable the individual who has been involved in a criminal proceeding or has criminal conviction to avoid any delays in processing an application for certification that is made at the time of graduation from an approved program. A formal application for certification must be made at the time of graduation.
